Who is shuyin

He realized that the only way to activate Vegnagun was to operate an organ-like instrument on its head. Shuyin managed to activate the machine using the organ and just as he did this, Lenne appeared to stop him. The two were reunited, but Bevelle soldiers fired their rifles upon them and they fell to the floor.

Before dying, Lenne told Shuyin she loved him but he never heard her words. Before the events of Final Fantasy X-2, it is revealed that Shuyin's spirit never dissolved into the Farplane due to all of the hatred and desire for vengeance that filled him. He instead became a wandering spirit that lived on for one thousand years within a cavern called the Den of Woe, where his body was buried when he died.

Due to all of the pyreflies that lingered in the cavern, Shuyin was haunted by the memories of Lenne than replayed in his mind constanly. Among the recruits were Baralai , Nooj , Gippal and Paine. They managed to survive however, and Shuyin was able to weaken Nooj and take over his body. Yuna begins a new journey after being given a sphere by Kimahri showing Shuyin in a cage in Bevelle. Yuna begins to feel all the emotions and feelings that Lenne had while she was alive even having dreams of herself and Tidus dying the same way Lenne and Shuyin did.

Nooj later meets Baralai and Gippal in the underground of Bevelle to figure out where Vegnagun disappeared. Baralai, who is now controlled by Shuyin, flees to the Farplane to find and activate Vegnagun. Shuyin takes control of the aeons and fiends begin to pour out of the temples Chambers of Fayth. Yuna and the Gullwings help cleanse the temples of the fiends but during a battle with the aeon Ixion, Yuna is knocked into a hole in Djose Temple. When she reaches the bottom, Yuna realizes that she is in the Farplane Glen.

With the help of Yuna and the Gullwings , the temples are cleansed, but during a battle with the aeon Ixion , Yuna falls into the pit in Djose Temple and ends up in the Farplane Glen where she encounters Shuyin in Baralai's body. As Yuna possesses the Songstress dressphere comprised of Lenne's memories, Shuyin mistakes her for his lover.

He reveals his plans to use Vegnagun's cannon to destroy Spira and end humanity's warring. Shuyin steps through a portal that would take him to Vegnagun, and Gippal and Nooj find Yuna, asking her to take care of things "topside" while they follow Shuyin through the portal to save Spira and free their friend.

The portal disappears, leaving Yuna behind. Holding a concert to ease the tension throughout Spira, Yuna sings a song implied to have been composed by Lenne about her romance with Shuyin.

The Songstress dressphere interferes with the sphere display broadcasting Lenne's final memories for the crowd, and Yuna learns of Lenne and Shuyin's existence as a shadow. The Gullwings investigate the Den of Woe, and are nearly driven to kill one another from the residing pyreflies' influence as they are shown Shuyin's memories of how he tried to use Vegnagun before he and Lenne died. After YRP return to their senses, fighting illusions of Nooj, Gippal, and Baralai soon after, they conclude Shuyin's ancient feelings caused the Crimson Squad candidates' deaths.

The venture shows Paine the truth behind Nooj's actions two years ago, Rikku reminding her that Shuyin's shadow had transferred into Baralai's body.

While Nooj's original plan is to graze Baralai enough for Shuyin to reenter him and then take his own life, Yuna proposes dismantling Vegnagun instead. Once Vegnagun is damaged beyond use, Shuyin leaves Baralai's body when Yuna tries to talk him into resting in peace by relaying Lenne's message.

After the Gullwings defeat the angered shadow, Lenne's spirit emerges from Yuna's dressphere and soothes Shuyin. As the shadow's anger and hatred dissipate, Lenne and Shuyin fade away to find peace in the Farplane. Lenne's lover from the Zanarkand of a thousand years past.

He could not save her, and his consequent sorrow and despair linger in this shadowy form. Shuyin's actions in battle are limited. He alternates regular attacks with special attacks based on Tidus's Swordplay Overdrives. His stance and attack movements are also identical to Tidus's. It is a haunted melody which subtly uses drums. It contains a dark reprise of " Words ", a song made for him by his lover Lenne that he never got to hear before they both died.

Artwork of Shuyin and Lenne by Yoshitaka Amano. The movie's scene depicting Shuyin's sphere recording originally featured Tidus. Shuyin was created to initiate Yuna's search for Tidus as they look similar. The spirits are not "tied to whomever they possess", and "may freely move about bodies". The exact reason why Shuyin looks so close to Tidus is not disclosed in the game, though Maechen hints it is not coincidental. Personally I think its a very lame explenation, and I have a more interesting theory.

Tidus and Shuyin are the same person, but share a different past due to Sin messing up the Dream Zanarkand. In the Dream Zandarkand for unknown reasons Sin appeared 10 years prior to the actual historic attack, in the sea off the coast of Zandarkand, where at that moment, Jecht was training.

For similair unknown reasons, whoever was Sin at that point decided to pull Jecht out of the dream Zanarkand and bring him to the real Spira. This obviously is not what happened in the actual Zandarkand a thousand years ago. As most top atheletes do in flashy sports events, he decided or others told him to take on a stage name, so he changed his name to "Tidus" roughly translates to something as "sun child", if I'm not mistaking A flashy name to captivate the crowds that come to watch the Blitzball tournaments.

The years after you roughly know what happened. Tough he was not a douch about it, he still did not completely grow up and remained more child at heart then others would have been.

Then, Sin attacked exactly as when he attacked in the historic documentation, but Jecht had different plans, and decided to take Auron and Tidus to Spira as well. Now going back a bit, to what in theory could be the "historic" events of Zandarkand. While Shuyin was growing up, Sin never appeared to take Jecht away.

So the next years were just filled with his heart being filled with even more hate towards the egocentric, drunk father that kept talking him down in everything he tried. Shuyin most likely trained hard to become a Blitzballer too, but Jecht kept taunthing him he would never be as good as he is. Eventually losing it, he tossed Blitzball aside completely due to no longer being able to enjoy it as everything about it was just ruined by his father's constant taunting and insulting.

Instead turning to becoming a soldier for Zandarkands army, trying to make himself usefull in another way, along with a easy means to vent his anger towards his dad that has been building up inside him for years witouth end, what better way to do that then swing a sword at friends and the soldiers of Bevelle? This explaining why Tidus and Shuyin have the exact same fighting style and overdrives In his time being part of the army, unlike Tidus, not constantly being training or playing Blitzball tournements, leave alone not being ether rich or famous he ends up meeting Lenne.
